Joining Delta Potters Association (DPA)

Delta Potters Association is opening applications for 3 new member positions and renewing our waitlist for future openings.

We are a non-profit cooperative of 88 passionate potters ranging from beginners to advanced makers. We do not operate as a commercial production studio; instead, we thrive on a community-first culture where members work together to operate, clean, and manage the studio.

The Society welcomes applications from all interested potters. In recognition of the support provided through Delta Parks, Recreation & Culture, priority for membership will be given to residents of North and South Delta.

We want to hear from applicants who want to actively learn, share knowledge, and contribute to a cooperative space.

⏳ The Intake Process & Timeline

Because we only have 3 current openings, new members will be selected via a randomized draw from all eligible applications received during our strict 36-hour intake window.

  • Application Window: Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 8:00 AM to Sunday, August 16, 2026, at 8:00 PM.

  • Draw & Notification: Applicants will be contacted the week of August 17 to verify their acceptance.

  • 48-Hour Rule: Selected applicants must agree to the membership terms within 48 hours, or the spot goes to the next person.

  • The Waitlist: We will draw 25 additional names to populate our ordered waitlist.

👥 Member Obligations & Expectations

As a cooperative member, you are expected to invest your time and energy back into the club:

  • Volunteer Commitment: Complete at least 15 hours per year in an assigned studio job (e.g., kiln loading, glaze mixing, finance, or leadership/coordinator roles).

  • Studio Cleanliness: Participate in the monthly studio deep clean at least once per year.

  • Meetings: Attend monthly membership meetings held on the second Monday of every month at 7:00 PM (in-person or online). While attendance is not mandatory, it is highly appreciated so members can participate in studio decisions and voting.

  • Community Support: Help with our 2 annual DPA pottery sales, participate in community events, and share your potting knowledge with peers.

  • Compliance: Abide by the DPA Code of Conduct, Member Obligations, Bylaws, and studio volume limits.

💰 Membership Fees

  • Annual Dues: $210 per year (pro-rated monthly).

  • Current Prorated Fee: $175 for the upcoming term (based on an expected start date of September 1).

  • Special Assessments: Commitment to pay an assessment of up to $300 annually if the club requires emergency/special funding.

  • Usage Costs: Members bring their own DPA-approved clay and pay separate firing fees.
